It is also interesting to note that as a powerhouse country, we have visited the moon and have managed to clone an animal, yet we can't seem to find a way to fix our educational system. This is preposterous. It truly is The Shame of our Nation.
Closing My Achievement Gap is a blog about my personal growth as an educator, leader, and promising scholar. Since I love learning for the sake of learning, I have challenged myself to blog about every educational book I read this upcoming academic year. The sole purpose of this endeavor will be to continue learning more about education, educational related topics, and leadership.

The Shame of the Nation by Jonathan Kozol
The Shame of the Nation is a great book for anyone looking to broaden their awareness in regards to the educational inequalities which exist in our nation. Jonathan does a great job of vividly describing the conditions the "other" kids experience on a daily basis. Outdated textbooks, broken desks, and inept teachers and leaders are just a few of the obstacles many kids face in their pursuit of an education.
